Challenge:
Developing hand-made cards for folks in hospice was certainly a challenge. I found that as I made the cards I imagined what it would be like to be in a hospice receiving a card like this. I knew the cards should be cheerful and warm but I wanted them to be a bit of reminder of the fuss and buzz of life.
Solution:
People living on Oahu are here for a reason. It is an expensive, crowded place. I felt that people in hospice might enjoy a fresh look at Honolulu and all of its noise and busyness. Since the cards were supposed to be hand-made I decided to sketch the view from my window on the 28th floor. Later I took them into Photoshop and added cheerful colors and painting effects. I printed them on heavy card stock to enhance the hand-made feel, however.
