PROJECT
Climate Protection Agreement Awards Event Video Titles
These brightly colored illustrations representing climate change issues were used at an awards event celebrating local companies.
ROLE:
Concept, Design, Illustration, Motion
CLIENT:
City of Columbia
DELIVERABLE:
Video/Web/Social Media
Challenge:
Each year the City of Columbia awards local businesses for implementing practices that limit their environmental impact.
Our task in the media department was to create videos describing the tactics of the companies that excelled in sustainability, recycling, and other environmental measures. These videos were shown at a community event honoring local businesses, on the City of Columbia’s website, and social media.
My first challenge was incorporating the logo into the video titles in a new and unique way. The second was creating an attractive title that was fresh, relevant, and inviting.
Solution:
I began with some research and ultimately Illustrated a title for each video representing animals and habitat that are in peril due to climate change.
The City of Columbia’s message was about positive change and partnerships so I chose bright, primary colors and avoided imagery of dead animals and the human consequences of climate change. Most of the videos included a bright sun signifying warmth and rising temperatures.
I revitalized the logo by animating the parts representing land, sea, and water separately, and then uniting them in the final logo.
